The SCDMV is looking for an CDL Master Examiner to join our teamIf you're ready to put your training skills to work to help our agency function at its best, we can't wait to meet you!This position is in Training /Examiner Training Unit, Department of Motor Vehicles Headquarters, Blythewood, SCTHIS IS A GRANT POSITION FOR A PERIOD OF 3 YEARSResponsibilities of the CDL Master ExamineroConducts classroom instruction on all commercial classes of license including classroom preparation utilizing the Learning Management SystemProvide hands-on training on the skills pad by performing demonstrations, evaluations/assessments on all License Examiners and 3rd Party TestersMust also be proficient in the operation of all vehicles to conduct required training.
oConducts initial and refresher training for SCDMV examiners and 3rd party testers in the administration of CDL road tests and exams by demonstrating the ability to administer tests in all classes of licensesConducts vehicle inspections on commercial vehicles, basic control skills, and road test training and performs evaluations/assessments of examiners and 3rd party testers.
oServes as in-house consultant on policies, procedures, along with State and Federal laws pertaining to all knowledge and skills licensing.
oConducts Branch office site visits for co-scoring and reviews CDL video storage as requested and for quality assurance or other requestsAssists with administration of software such as CSTIMS and MCDL.
oReview current commercial vehicle test routes and recommend necessary revisionsDesign and recommend new commercial vehicle test routes as needed.
oOther duties as may be required by supervisor or manager.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsMinimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree and relevant training and program experienceAn equivalent education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval.
Additional RequirementsoKnowledge in the administration of CDL examinationsBe familiar with state and federal laws relating to issuance of CDL.
oExperience as an instructor/trainer including knowledge of instructional design and adult learning principles.
oExcellent communication skills, both oral and written as well as proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
oAbility to coordinate, plan, implement and evaluate effectiveness of training programsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and the public.
oReports directly to the Examiner Training Unit Manager and works independently with limited supervision.
oMaster Examiner Supervisors may also assign job tasks and provide direction.
oWorks in a climate-controlled office environment as well as outdoors in various types of weather to include moderate to extreme hot and cold temperatures, rain, and wind.
oMay be required to stand for long periods of time while training or facilitatingSome lifting (10-15 pounds), stooping, bending, crawling, and climbing required.
oOvernight travel will be required.
Preferred QualificationsAgency PreferredoA valid South Carolina CDL Class A or B and be at least 21 years of age.
oProficient in the operation of all classes of commercial vehicles.
oMust obtain Class B Passenger endorsement if currently a Class A license holder.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
