Come join us and find the keys to your future!This position is in the Office of Human Resources, at the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicle Headquarters, in Blythewood SC.
Responsibilities of the Benefits & Payroll SpecialistoProvides guidance and counsel to employees regarding their benefits to include insurance, retirement, disability leave, life insurance, health and wellness initiatives, and workers' compensation.
oResponds to employees questions through written or verbal communication.
Informs employees of their benefit options and assists in the completion of appropriate forms to initiate changes in benefits and notifies vendors of changes.
oResponsible for verifying and processing salary transactions for the agency.
Keys all actions into SCEIS.
oProcesses information for various salary transactions such as new hires, terminations, corrections/changes, reassignments, temporary salary adjustments.
oCorresponds with the Comptroller General's Office, Treasurer's Office and management within the Department of Motor Vehicles concerning issues and/or areas of concern related to payroll transactions.
oMonitors policies to ensure the agency is in compliance with all state regulations.
oRuns and reviews payroll reports for accuracy before each blue days.
Runs semi-monthly reports to include gross comparison, net comparison, LWOP, overtime, gross wages, annual leave payout, arrears, deductions not taken, claims, insurance plans and health plans.
oCreates and maintains HR Master Data for payroll, voluntary deductions and W4 withholdings, and executes payroll simulations.
oAssists with conducting bi-monthly new employee orientations for all full-time and temporary employees to cover policies and benefits.
Provides assistance in the completion of all required forms and documents to meet deadlines.
oAssists with coordination of all health and wellness programs for the agency.
oAssists with the annual benefits open enrollment to ensure employees understand their benefits and options.
oPerforms other duties as assigned by manager.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Minimum RequirementsA bachelor's degree and relevant experience.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted.
Additional RequirementsoKnowledge of electronic data processing.
oSkills in the area of mathematical concepts and computations.
oAbility to analyze and interpret complex accounting data.
oAbility to interpret state laws and regulations.
oEffective communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels of the organization.
oStrong time management skills with the ability to effectively meet all daily and monthly deadlines.
oUnder general supervision, the person in this position must be a self starter, self motivated and work well independently.
