Job Responsibilities THIS POSITION IS BEING REPOSTED.

Plans the global configuration of Agency servers and system software based on anticipated growth, user needs, system lifecycle, and security considerations.
Coordinates with DTO for the creation and configuration of new virtual servers.
Administers, manages, and supports the domain, the servers, and the core applications that comprise the Agency's server environment.
Performs recommended tasks based on performance and security monitoring results.
Performs advanced diagnostics and complex troubleshooting.
Responds to outages.
Administers and maintains the Agency's VPN and integrated 2FA solution.
Administers and maintains the Agency's mobile device management solution.
Responsible for reviewing and maintaining folder permissions and Active Directory groups.
Serves as a liaison with the Division of Technology Operations for email support and data backup/recovery.
Serves as a backup liaison with the Division of Technology Operations for the Agency's firewall solution.
Supports the Agency's disaster recovery environment.
Assists management in the development , maintenance, and enforcement of technology strategies.
Documents and publishes technical information such as server configurations, best practices, procedures, and instructions.
Records configuration changes and support activities performed on the Agency's servers.
Works with technicians in other disciplines to plan, support, and/or diagnose issues.
Performs special projects and other related duties as requested.
Minimum and Additional Requirements State Minimum RequirementsA high school diploma and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment.
An associate degree or bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
Agency Minimum RequirementsA Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology-related discipline and two (2) years experience in systems/server administration and server-based applicationsand services; an Associate's degree in an Information Technology-related discipline and four (4) years experience in systems/server administration and server-based applications and services; a high school diploma and six (6) years experience in systems/server administration and server-based applications and services.
Applied knowledge of:
Microsoft server operating systems; Microsoft services such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, WINS, and Internet Information Services (IIS); mobile device management (MDM); virtual server environments; virtual private networks (VPN); firewalls; and storage area networks (SANs).
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills.
Working knowledge of network and server security best practices and technologies preferred.
Microsoft or other industry- recognized certifications desired.
The incumbent will work under limited supervision.
The employee will be expected to perform periodic, proactive reviews of the server environment and present proposed strategies for management review and approval prior to implementation.
Employee will be expected to provide periodic progress reports on approved initiatives.
Incumbent could be expected to sit and work from a computer for extended periods of time for approximately 75% of the time.
Employee will be expected to periodically be on call and to work during off hours approximately 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications The purpose of this position is to serve as a domain administrator responsible for the management and support of the servers and system software for the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
This position will also serve as the primary administrator for the Agency's VPN and integrated 2FA solution.
This position will also support the Agency's mobile device management solution and serve as a liaison for the Agency's email.
The position will assist management in the establishment, maintenance, and enforcement of technology/security strategies, policies, procedures, configurations, conventions, and standards.
