Toyota Production System Manager

Primarily responsible for implementing the Toyoda Production System (TPS) based on Lean Manufacturing principles, techniques, and methodologies for the most efficient utilization of labor, material, and capital at the Richland manufacturing facility. Responsible for championing and leading Lean initiatives at the Plant level supporting the plant and JTEKT's Lean strategy. Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
oDeveloping and performing manufacturing assessments, documenting and analyzing current processes, and manufacturing value streams. oMeasures and reports progress on an on-going basis using Plant and Company KPI's oDeveloping implementation plan and budgeting for annual operations and long range plans. oDeveloping and implementing improvements to eliminate operational wastes in the process, managing and evaluating multiple projects in the developing of TPS. oDeveloping and deploying TPS and Lean Manufacturing training materials, coordinating and providing TPS and Lean Manufacturing directions with the support functions such as Supply Chain, Quality, HR and Engineering. oImproving the plant's performance including Delivery Performance, Production Capacity, Operational Costs, and Quality oExecuting TPS implementation plans and strategies oLean management system design and implementation oAssuming leadership responsibility for key kaizen and production improvement champion to all levels of the organization. Actively participating in and coordinating JTEKT and customer initiated plant development activities oDeveloping and leading implementation of QC circles, responsible for the overall effectiveness of the QC Circle Program and be the champion of TQM oDriving and implementing improvements in chokko, bekido, and yarijimai oPerforming time studies and draft work combination tables oImplementing of JPS tools to improve manufacturing performance oImplementation and maintenance of visual workplace Supervisory
Responsibilities:
oServing as plant representative for both JPS and TQM Supervisory Responsibilities oServe as a mentor and provide direction and guidance to overall plant Improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for supervising employees in accordance with policies and procedures. This position will be required to supervise and lead up to 4 direct reports. oMentoring and managing plant JPS Team Leaders Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
oExtensive knowledge of Toyota Production System and lean manufacturing principles. oExcellent organization, planning, and analytical problem solving skills. oExperience in leading kaizen activities. oStrong statistical skills, along with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and Minitab. oWorking knowledge of bearing manufacturing processes preferred. oWorking knowledge of tool room skills (i.e. welding and sheet metal fabrication) and time studies oHighly approachable with good interpersonal and leadership skills that encourage and motivate others. oDemonstrated ability to work without close supervision and maintain high level of motivation. Experience:
oBS in Engineering, Statistics/ Mathematics, Business, Operations or other related discipline o1-3 plus years of experience in lean manufacturing concepts and implementation, including the JTEKT Production System o5 plus years experience in manufacturing other than lean o8 plus years minimum total experience with some automotive experience Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position has an exposure to moderate noise levels, moving mechanical parts, electrical power distribution and controls, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, steam distribution and generation, water systems, chemical and water baths, extreme hear from furnaces, extreme cold from cryogenic units, mechanical machine operations, etc. This will require the use of personal protective equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, etc. oTravel by automobile and plane required approximately 20% of time.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Engineering Management, Industrial EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
